The Royal FloraHolland Sustainability Award is the successor to the Greenovation Award but has a focus that goes beyond environmental impact. The new award focuses not only on sustainability but also on social involvement, responsible entrepreneurship, and technological innovation. With this, Royal FloraHolland wants to recognize, reward, and stimulate growers who pioneer sustainable progress.
David van Mechelen, CFO of Royal FloraHolland, explains: “With the Royal FloraHolland Sustainability Award, we not only want to reward innovators but also accelerate the movement. We believe that sustainability in our sector is about making an impact on the environment, society, and corporate governance. It is also about people, collaboration, and future-proofing. This award is for the members of Royal FloraHolland who lead in this combination – and for those who are shaping the future of floriculture now.”
Entries will be judged by an expert jury on the areas of sustainability, impact, and feasibility. A public vote will also follow and count towards the evaluation. The top 3 of the Sustainability Award will receive, in addition to a prestigious trophy, practical support and guidance to further develop the sustainable initiative communicatively.
Participation is open until August 31, and the public vote will follow in October. In November, the nominees will be extensively highlighted at the annual Trade Fair Aalsmeer.
