The nominees for the Greenovation Award 2023 have been announced! Vote for your favourite

Royal FloraHolland encourages innovation and sustainability and has therefore created the Greenovation Award for the best sustainable product. Once again this year, many great products and concepts were submitted and it was a tough job to choose the best.

Developments in sustainability are advancing quickly and the number of sustainable products is also growing rapidly. The fact that the floriculture sector is also getting on board with these developments is both positive and promising for the future. The expert jury was delighted with all the applications and, after much deliberation, was able to identify six interesting candidates.

The professional jury determines 50% of the final assessment; the other 50% is determined by the public, who can vote online in advance. Below are all the nominees for 2023. Vote for your favourite!

My Perfect Garden app from Hoogeveen Plants BV
How many plants will fit in my garden border? Which plants look good together? And what will my border look like in every season of the year? It is not always easy to visualise. That's why Hoogeveen Plants BV has come up with the My Perfect Garden app.

Potweb of consortium Levoplant, Ter Laak, Optiflor and Solvent
Potworm is a major problem in Phalaenopsis cultivation and through the entire chain. A consortium of four companies - Levoplant, Ter Laak, Opti-flor and Solvent Engineering - has therefore developed Potweb: the solution for environmentally friendly control of potworm in the cultivation of Phalaenopsis orchids.

Peat-free Laurus Nobilis from Gova BV
Extracting peat, which is used for substrates, releases a great deal of CO2 and, at some point, this resource will run out. The chain is therefore trying to reduce the use of peat in various ways. Gova BV of Nispen already grows since 2020 its laurels in a 100% peat-free substrate and can deliver multiyear grown plants: 100% peat-free Laurus Nobilis.

Triple Thrive Data from Cooperative Paletti Growers
The transition to a more sustainable world also requires the floriculture sector to be more conscious about water, energy and crop protection products. The Triple Thrive Data concept, a unique way of collecting data for crop optimisation, can help.

Peat-free Anthurium from Stolk Brothers
Traditionally, many crops use peat for substrates. It offers many advantages, but is highly detrimental to the environment. Peat extraction releases a great deal of CO2 and, what's more, at some point this resource will run out. That is why Stolk Brothers in Bergschenhoek now grows its entire range of potted anthuriums 100% ‘peat-free'.

Eco Flowerbox / FECT from Paardekooper Group (Dillewijn Zwapak / Broekhof)
The Eco Flowerbox/FECT is a sustainable solution for packing flowers and plants. The box is specially designed for transport on Danish trolleys, but can also be used on other load carriers. The material consists of 100% recycled plastic and is fully circular.
